Hi, I’m Joanne James and I am running for the Newfield Town Board, Let me introduce myself. I have lived in Newfield for 47 years, raised my family here, was the Business Administrator at Newfield Central School for 26 years, and am involved in community organizations including the Mill Park Music Series. I am a CPA and have been on the Newfield Town board since 2010.

Government, at the local level, is where the work gets done. I believe it is important to:

• Make Newfield a desirable place to live in keeping with its rural character but encouraging growth so our Town and School can thrive. We need to work cooperatively. 
• Create a safe community, maintaining our infrastructure and protecting the environment 
• Encourage agriculture and preserve our farmland but at the same time grow our tax base.  
• Preserve the unique beauty of the area. We have several exceptional old bridges and beautiful hiking trails. 
• Make sure our tax dollars are spent appropriately to best serve the community.  

We have accomplished many things since I’ve been on the Town Board including completing a long-awaited sewer project, building a new town park, and starting an upgrade on the Town Hall.

 I am looking forward to continuing our good work.
