In 2015 I was asked to represent you by running for an open seat on the Town Board and a few years after that as Town Supervisor. Since 2016, It has been an honor to represent and serve the community. The Town Board has worked together to accomplish many things over the last nine years. Some of the major accomplishments have been:
- Completing the Rec Park on Vankirk Road. Through the support of the community and the collaboration of Town resources, we have a new recreational resource for the community that includes outdoor basketball courts, soccer and little league fields. We are in the process of seeking funding for a project that will further improve that resource by adding public bathrooms and a pavilion that the community will be able to use.
- Improvements to the sewer district. For years prior to my being elected to the Town Board, the Town had been addressing a problem with the infiltration of stormwater into the Towns leach fields. We completed the research for the project, sought funding and have completed that project. We now have improved infrastructure and tools in place to monitor the flow of the system and help increase the capacity of the district.
- The Town is currently engaged in a project that will make improvements to the Town Hall that will make the building fully accessible to everyone by including restrooms on the first floor and adding much needed space for Town services.
- The Town water district will also see improvements. We have secured funding to move forward with much needed improvements to the infrastructure of the water district.
Those are a few of the major accomplishments we have made over the last few years. Other accomplishments include passing sensible legislation to help our community grow without burdening the community with over regulation. Expanding broadband availability to 80% of people who had no access to high-speed internet. And always being good stewards of the Town and the resources entrusted to us.
We have more work ahead of us including the improvements to the Town Rec Park and the improvements to the water district that have begun and will likely be concluded in 2026 at the earliest. I am asking for your support in helping us get this work done by supporting my bid for re-election as the Town Supervisor.
Thank you for your support, your trust, and your unwavering dedication to our community. Together, we will continue to make Newfield the best place to live in Tompkins County.
